I am a registered general nurse and have worked extensively in Intensive Care. With that type of nursing you realise how the body works as a whole and that you can not compartmentalise things.
I often saw how my patient’s facial skin reacted to various medications and how stress from illness/disease or trauma is portrayed on the skin. I loved my role especially working with people and never intended to leave but I wanted/ needed to move. I still wanted to involve myself with patients/ people on a health level so I commenced my beauty therapy training in 1995.
Dividing my time as a nurse and skin care/beauty therapist I came to realise that I had a real passion for skin health and loved helping others with skin problems with real success.
Every-Body Skin and Body Care was founded in 1998. With my strong background in healthcare I focused on taking the traditional Beauty Therapy role to the next level with a strong focus on skin health. To always look behind the surface for a complete overview of the bodies functioning, which has helped me and my team to treat and correct many skin conditions. I won the premier Beauty Therapy New Zealand award ‘Beauty Therapist of the Year NZ’ in 2003 which I believe is a tribute to my true desire to treat the largest organ of the body with respect and knowledge.
With the rapid expansion of Every-Body Skin and Body I opened Louise Gray Skin Care, Mission Bay Auckland in March 2005 and which has gone from strength to strength. We have gained numerous industry awards, including the Dermalogica Therapist of the Year 2009 (Jasmine Roberts) and Dermalogica Skin Care Centre of the Year for 2011, I believe making my therapists the most sort after in the industry. In addition I have opened a second Professional Skin Care Centre in Ponsonby and have recently secured the distribution rights for bt-GEAR by Bio-Therapeutic for New Zealand.

Personal Philosophy
I believe that Louise Gray Skin Care Clinic’s are more than just a skincare centres; they provide a haven for success which is driven by education. Success in changing people’s emotional outlook and success in regards to my employees.
Education, I believe is the main driving factor that has made the clinics so successful. Every client that enters Louise Gray Skin Care is treated as an individual; no two treatments will ever be the same. Our clientele will leave with the most up to date information in regards to how treat and resolve any skin condition. All Louise Gray Professional Skincare therapists follow a training program that ensures they are educated to the highest industry standard not only product knowledge and techniques but also in-depth skin histology, client care and business skills. It has been noted that my Professional Skincare Therapists are some of the most respected within the industry. They are focused on improving the health of individual’s skin, the largest organ of the body. It is primarily about health, wellness and nurturing.
I have had bad skin myself so I understand the need for education on skin health. I thrive on the ability to be able to educate people, for them to understand how the body is amazing in so many ways and that facial skin often portrays what is happening internally and usually a guide to their total wellbeing. Also we need to become masters in the art of understanding people. We all have different personalities, so we need to be able to assist them in the best way possible.
Overall I am still a nurse at heart and always keep things at a level that works with the body, thus the body eventually helping itself. I also have a strong belief in the quote, ‘Why should I keep all the knowledge”.
Additional contributions to the industry
Continuing with my strong passion for education I have been an Educator for the Joyce Blok Institute focusing on Electrolysis and with Dermal International NZ focusing on their core classes.
Within my businesses I always believe in giving back to the community that you work with in, as they are the ones that support you the most. I regularly support local businesses, schools and community based projects Whether it be a gift of a service to raffle for raise funds for a new project, my time to speak at a local school advising them on skin health or to even just wait at a finishing line to provide support and encouragement for a client that has completed an amazing physical feat.
